Christie slams Rand Paul by accusing Kentucky of being a leech on the federal government
By Eric W. Dolan
The Raw Story[/b]

Republican Governor Chris Christie slammed Senator Rand Paul on Tuesday, after the Kentucky senator accused him of begging the federal government for money.

During a press conference, Christie noted that his state paid more in federal taxes than they got back, which was not true to of the state that Paul represented. According to the Tax Foundation, for every $1.00 Kentucky’s taxpayers send to Washington, they get back $1.51. In contrast, for every $1.00 New Jersey’s taxpayers sent to Washington, they get only 61 cents back.

“I find it interesting that Senator Paul is accusing us of having a gimme, gimme, gimme attitude toward federal spending when in fact New Jersey is a donor state, we get 61 cents back on every dollar we send to Washington,” Christie said. “And interestingly Kentucky gets $1.51 on every dollar they sent to Washington.”

“So if Senator Paul wants to start looking at where he is going to cut spending to afford defense, maybe he should start looking at cutting the pork barrel spending he brings home to Kentucky at a $1.51 on every dollar and not look at New Jersey where we get 61 cents for every dollar,” he continued. “Maybe Senator Paul could deal with that when he is trying to deal with the reduction of spending on the federal side, but I doubt he would because most Washington politicians only care about bringing home the bacon so they can get reelected.”

Monday night of Fox News’ Hannity, Paul criticized Christie for asking the federal government for disaster relief aid after Hurricane Sandy.

“If he cared about protecting this country maybe he wouldn’t be in this gimme, gimme, gimme all the money you have in Washington or don’t have, and he’d be a little more fiscally responsive,” Paul said.

Paul was responding to a comment Christie made last week, in which the New Jersey governor said libertarians supported dangerous policies.

Those two have been having quite a tiff the last few weeks.

Screw that fat bastard BTW. His claim is part true, but mostly BS. We had a topic on that subject on this very forum not that long ago.

Exactly. He is slamming Paul for practices Paul is trying hard to stop. Someday that fat bastard may learn a thing or two. He uses our sympathies to get FEMA money for fellow rich bastards who built big homes on the shoreline. Regular insurance knew better than to insure these rich bastards' homes, but FEMA had no problem using public money for it. Wish they would add that money to the equation. The result might be different.

When has Paul tried to limit funding to his home state? His counter to Christie's accusation is that Kentucky is home to two military bases, and as such the defense spending he brings home is essential to national security. How many bases are in California? How may bases are in NJ? Paul brings home the bacon, just like all the other congressmen.

Yep, he does......although not as much as one fatass, crybaby governor does, but I digress.

Just to stick with the one, single reson given to me:

Two large bases in Kentucky........one being famous for "the most secure military installation in the world", plays more havoc with the whole in/out of funds than several times that number in a richer, more populous state(like Cali or NJ). Many other factors like all those old retirees moving in play havoc as well.

BTW, with Kentucky housing over 36, 000 active duty and NJ housing right at 7100, there is a large enough discrepancy to make the whole train of thought apples and oranges.

Would also like a name......just one will do.......of the individual who tries to stop wasteful spending anywhere near the level than Mr. Paul does..........take your time, I got plenty of time to wait.

Certainly not my Senator, Richard Shelby.  He's one of the worst spenders.

I cant name one guy who does as good a job fiscally as Rand Paul.  That fella's quickly becoming a hero of mine.  Smile

The National Taxpayer's Union Foundations lists Rand Paul as the most Fiscally Conservative of all in Washington.
The list the top 5 as:

[*]Senator Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) proposed cutting $650 billion;
[*]Senator James Inhofe (R-Oklahoma) proposed $470.8 billion;
[*]Former Senator Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) proposed $463.4 billion;
[*]Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) proposed cutting $427.7 billion; and
[*]Lindsey Graham proposed cutting $408.8 billion.

Yep, that last one surprised me too.  scratch   Graham is a RINO like Christie in my book.  But apparently he's pretty good fiscally.
Rand Paul led the 112th Congress with the largest spending cut bill at $411 million.  Oddly, Richard Shelby was in the top 10.  Strange how me still managed to funnel millions in pork to the University of Alabama so that they could name two buildings after he and his wife, plus continue to raise student tuition.

But Chris Christie is a RINO for sure.  He's a one of the worst when it comes to being socially liberal.  The Washington Times Editor Brett Decker reported that Christie has a liberal record on guns, abortion, homosexual marriage and global warming.  Christie attacked the NRA after Sandy Hook and refused to fight Obamacare in New Jersey.  Apparently he's bullied homeowners (with profanity) to make them accept eminent domain encroachment on their property.

He is a Republican in the same way John McCain is a Republican. In other words Christie gets media attention by paying lip-service to his “disagreements” with liberal policies, all the while attacking his party and governing to the left.
