Re: Check In Here Please
This looks very nice, Bryant! You must be computer literate. I like all the "features" available here, like font color, etc! I hope I can find my way around here & put my posts where they are supposed to go! I can't wait to check out the topics. I hope we have a place for jokes and funny stuff too. I can really use some humor in my life right now. It's pretty stressful!
It's nice to see all the old familiar faces! Can't promise I will get here a lot, but I will certainly try to come by from time to time! With this being an important election (state & nation!) I am really trying to have my "feet on the street" as much as I can. (when I am not busy being sick, taking care of old doggies, taking my cousin who lives with us & doesn't drive, places, etc) I feel like things are past the point of discussion right now and action is really what is called for.
I went to DC in Oct for the "Stop The Machine, Occupy DC" start up. (this makes the third Oct I have gone to DC, the second time that I had hair while I was there, lol) I don't know if I will be able to get back in the spring, but that is what I am hoping for. I have been somewhat active with our local occupy movement. (laundry & food, & attend city council meeting)
I have been politically active to one degree or another since I was a teen, but since starting my battle with breast cancer, I feel it even more imperative to do what I can to leave a better place for future generations. (That is, of course, if the Mayan calender thing isn't true. And if it is, well, I went down swingin'!)
I am nearly 59 yrs old, and I have never seen things so messed up in my lifetime. So when I can't be on the street, I am signing petitions (Yes, they do work!) calling representatives about issues, etc. I have called the White House a few times too! I just don't want to feel like things were going to hell and I stood by and did nothing to stop it. There is so much apathy in the world and it's time for people to wake up!
With that, I'll say, "G'night!" and I hope to see everyone now & then! Thanks, Brent for doing this!!
