Bald Faced Hornets
Does anyone know any kind of repellant that will keep these guys away. For some reason they really seem to like me and follow me around while I'm in the woods at work. I've recently learned that twacking them with my clipboard, my normal MO, isn't a good idea as it can attract others.

Man, I know my wife and I spray the house awnings down with water and dish soap every spring. If you make the mixture kinda strong and don't wash it off, it deters wasps and hornets from building nests, but I have no idea how to keep them away from you. Maybe it is the brand of bath soap you use that is attracting them.

Yeah, you should stop using that honey-and-lemon-scented stuff, the hornets must think you're food :-PMarconius wrote:. Maybe it is the brand of bath soap you use that is attracting them.

Could be the soap, could be shampoo, aftershave, deodorant, etc. Try some unscented and see if that helps. Might even be the color of clothing you are wearing. They are attracted to the color yellow, open soda cans, standing water, trashcans, etc. I've read they are attracted to light sources.
