North Korea says it is proceeding with plans for a third nuclear test.
In a statement carried by KCNA news agency, the country's top military body said the "high-level nuclear test we will carry out" and long-range rocket launches would target the US.
The statement gave no time-frame for the test. North Korea has conducted two nuclear tests, in 2006 and 2009.
The move comes two days after a UN Security Council resolution condemned North Korea's recent rocket launch.
"We are not disguising the fact that the various satellites and long-range rockets that we will fire and the high-level nuclear test we will carry out are targeted at the United States," KCNA quoted the National Defence Commission as saying.
Reports suggesting North Korea could be preparing for a third nuclear test have been circulating for several weeks. Regional neighbours and the US have urged it not to proceed.
On Tuesday the Security Council expanded sanctions against Pyongyang following its December rocket launch, seen by the US as a banned test of long-range missile technology.
So what do we do about this? Best I can think of would be to attack Pyongyang immediately after the test and do our best to off as many N. Korean leaders as quickly as possible. The idea of Pyongyang being able to hit Tokyo with nuclear weapons is bothersome enough, we have to stop them before they develop something that could deliver a payload to Hawaii or California. It would piss China off, but I don't see them getting in our way this time

I think you're probably OK for a while - how many times have the NKs tried to launch a satellite now and had the rocket blow up on them? Would be more worried about them trying to sneak a bomb in on a container ship or somethgin like that than about rockets.
