For Those That Actually Like Romney

Help me out with this.
What should Romney's talking points be???
What exactly does he have that would lead me to believe he would do a better job than President Obama is doing now???
What exactly would he change???

Well, Mark, we should assume all politicians probably wont do everything they say they will do for whatever reason.

This is long and not all-inclusive, but here is what Romney has promised.

1. He wants to increase access to domestic energy resources. Streamline permits for exploration and developement. Approve the Keystone pipeline and eliminate regulations that he thinks are harming the coal industry. You should probably like this coz it (sounds) like he wants to increase drilling among a variety of other things. More jobs I would think.

2. Give every family access to great schools. I dont know if this means vouchers, or if it means higher standards for teachers.

3. Curtail unfair trade practices for countries like China. Open new markets for America's goods and services. (I'd love to see us export more to South and Central American nations and develope good realtions with them since they are right in our backyard.).

3. Cut the deficit. Immediately reduce non-security discretionary spending by 5%. Cap federal spending below 20% of the economy. Give states responsibility for programs they can impliment more effectively. Probably means allowing states to have more freedom on local education. Probably means giving states more say in what laws they wish to have (possibly reguading things like gay marriage or whatever).

4. Champion small business. Reduce taxes on job creation through individual and corporate tax reform. Probably drop our corporate taxes from 35% (highest int he world) down to around 20%. Really should be dropped to 13 or 14%. Protect workers and businesses from strong arm labor union tactics. This may have something to do with right to work states, I dunno. Replace Obamacare with real healthcare reforms that control costs and improve care. Most likely whatever new healthcare initiatives they come up with will (a) be actually read by congress before they are voted on, and (b) will not be mandatory like Obamacare is.

Romney has said he will review our transition to the Afghan military by holding discussions with our commanders in the field. Withdrawal of U.S. forces from Afghanistan will be based on conditions on the ground as assessed by our military commanders...rather than an arbitrary date set by Obama.

Romney has said he will make sure Afghan President Hamid Karzai understand that our commitment must be met with reciprocal efforts to crack down on corruption in his government, respect free and fair elections as required by the Afghan constitution, and coordinate with the United States on fighting the narcotics trade that fuels the insurgency. Iow, Afghanistan will have to make reforms and will have to shoulder its share of the burden.

Pakistan should understand that any connection between insurgent forces and Pakistan’s security and intelligence forces must be severed. Pakistan is going to hae to clean up corruption. Honestly I'm not holding my breath for either of these things happening. Those folks over there are corrupt and will stab us in the back 1st chance they get....especially in Pakistan. They hate us because of our alliance with India.

Romney plans to add more sanctions to Iran while making it clear that a military option remain on the table. I have come to believe that sanctions usually dont work because Russia and China cheat. But at least it shows the US is trying rather than automatically going in guns-a-blazing. He has also said he would support protests in Iran and a movement that may overthrow the govt. He would work to improve the flow of information to the Iranian population about its own government’s repressive activities.

He's also going to insist to the on-time completion of a defensive missile shield in Europe to protect against Iranian (and other) nuclear missiles.

Mitt strongly supports the right of all law-abiding Americans to exercise their constitutionally protected right to own firearms and to use them for lawful purposes, including hunting, recreational shooting, self-defense, and the protection of family and property.

Romney says he is going to finally do something about immigration. He wants to attract highly skilled immigrants. The educated because foreign-born residents with advanced degrees start companies, create jobs, and drive innovation at a high rate. He wants to employ a temporary VISA program that works by reducing requirements that delay issuance of a visa and work to speed up applications. He also wants to set a cap on the number of non-agricultural temporary worker visas.

Mitt Romney will complete a high-tech fence to enhance border security.
He will ensure that we have the officers on the ground we need to gain control of the border.
He will work to develop an efficient, effective system of exit verification to ensure people do not overstay their visas.

Mitt Romney will develop an effective, mandatory employment verification system that will enable employers to be sure that those they hire are eligible to work. This will discourage illegal immigrants from coming to America to seek jobs.

Romney opposes all “magnets” that entice illegal immigrants to come to our country. As governor, he vetoed in-state tuition benefits for illegal immigrants and opposed driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants.

He plans to enforce immigration laws already on the books. He has said he will will ensure that husbands, wives, and their minor children are brought together on a timely basis.

Romney believes that young illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as children should have the chance to become permanent residents, and eventually citizens, by serving honorably in the United States military.

Romney opposes amnesty.
He plans to make permanent, across-the-board 20%cut in marginal rates.
Maintain current tax rates on interest, dividends, and capital gains.
Eliminate taxes for taxpayers with AGI below $200,000 on interest, dividends, and capital gains.
Eliminate the Death Tax.

Romney supports adult stem cell research (rather than embrionic) and will focus his energy on laws and policies that promote this kind of research to unlock the medical breakthroughs.

As president, Mitt will not only appoint an Attorney General who will defend the Defense of Marriage Act – a bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton – but he will also champion a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman.
